Your Legal Obligation
As a UK business, you have legal and moral obligations to manage your environmental impact. These obligations arise from a range of legislation and regulations and growing public concern about the environmental impact of businesses.
Legally, businesses are subject to a range of environmental regulations and requirements. For example, the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 require companies that operate certain types of facilities (such as waste management sites or large industrial sites) to obtain environmental permits and comply with a range of conditions designed to protect the environment. In addition, the Waste (England and Wales) Regulations 2011 impose requirements on businesses to manage their waste in a way that minimizes environmental harm, and the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) requires large companies to conduct energy audits and identify opportunities for energy savings.
