Exciting News: Envirosafe’s Max Roberts Achieves Chartered Status

Max Roberts

Envirosafe, a leader in Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) consultancy, is thrilled to announce that Max Roberts, one of its distinguished consultants, has attained Chartered status. Max is now registered as a Chartered Health and Safety Professional with the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). This achievement is a significant milestone in Max’s career and a testament to his dedication to excellence in occupational health and safety.

Max Roberts, who holds a Master of Science Degree in Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental Management in partnership with NEBOSH, expressed his gratitude for the support he received during his journey toward chartership. “I would like to say a massive thank you to Dave Foy for encouraging me to apply for Chartered Status,” Max said. “I would also like to say a massive thank you to those who helped me with my Skills Development Portfolio, Richard Bate (Vice President IOSH), and Richard Blaydon. Thank you for bearing with me while I navigated through it all!”

Max also extended special thanks to his Director, Andy Cole, whose support and resources played a crucial role in his achievement. “If it wasn’t for the resources he provides me—time, experiences, opportunities, support, the exposure to different working environments—there isn’t a doubt that I would have struggled to reach Chartered Membership,” Max added. “I’m grateful to Andy for giving me the opportunity to build and grow ENVIROSAFE Consultants from its foundations to a now nationally recognised leading SHE consultancy.”

What is Chartered Status?

A Chartered Professional is someone who has demonstrated a high level of skill or competence in their field, which is recognised by a formal credential awarded by a relevant professional organisation. In the UK, Chartered status is a prestigious qualification, typically awarded by institutions incorporated under a royal charter, with permission from the Privy Council.

Chartered status is often seen as the pinnacle of professional qualification in a given field, representing a form of accreditation that grants a protected title but does not mandate chartership for practice. This makes it distinct from licensing requirements in other professions.

IOSH and Chartered Membership

The Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) is a professional awarding organisation for occupational safety and health qualifications in the UK, recognised by the Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulator (Ofqual). To achieve Chartered Member status with IOSH, candidates must meet specific qualification requirements and successfully complete the Initial Professional Development (IPD) scheme.

As a Chartered Member of IOSH, Max can now use the post-nominals CMIOSH and the title Chartered Safety and Health Professional. Chartered membership is a mark of excellence, showcasing a professional’s top-tier status in their field. Some of the benefits include:

  • Enhanced ability to influence decision-makers.
  • International recognition.
  • Equal standing with other professionals.
  • Improved future employability.

The Role of Health and Safety Professionals

Health and safety professionals operate across a wide array of sectors, offering guidance and management on workplace health, safety, well-being, and social sustainability issues. Their responsibilities often include:

  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation.
  • Conducting risk assessments.
  • Performing DSE assessments and managing working at height.
  • Overseeing manual handling and root cause analysis.
  • Conducting audits, providing control measures, and offering training.
  • Addressing ergonomics, environmental concerns, and behavioral safety.
  • Promoting well-being at work, rehabilitation, and sustainable business strategies.

Max Roberts’ achievement of Chartered status marks a significant personal and professional milestone and underscores Envirosafe’s commitment to absolute excellence in health, safety, and environmental management. This accomplishment enhances Max’s credentials and reinforces the firm’s reputation as a leading SHE consultancy.

Congratulations, Max Roberts, on this remarkable achievement!
